Downtown
Ryman Auditorium
Theater · 116 5th Ave N
About This Venue
Home of the Grand Ole Opry from 1943 to 1974. Johnny Cash, Hank Williams, Patsy Cline, Emmylou Harris — the pews are original and the acoustics were designed for the human voice before amplification existed. The most important room in American music, and it's on 5th Avenue North.
Whatever you're seeing here, the building is half the show. Even loud acts feel framed by the balcony, the pews, and 130 years of memory. The audience usually arrives knowing that.
