The Read

Troubadour Blue play the acoustic-roots end of things, and the Station Inn is the least forgiving place in town to attempt it. No stage lighting worth mentioning, no production to hide behind, an audience full of people who play for a living. What you get is the arrangement, the harmony blend, and whether the songs hold up unplugged. The room is a cinderblock building that predates everything around it in the Gulch, and the drink list is beer and more beer. Get there early if you want a table. A weeknight bluegrass show at the Station Inn is one of the cheapest good nights in Nashville, and it has been for forty years.

The Room

Station Inn

402 12th Ave S

A cinder-block room where bluegrass has been played since 1974, while the Gulch built a luxury neighborhood around it and left it alone.

Po'boy bread flown in from New Orleans. The chicken and andouille gumbo is the anchor; the debris fries are worth knowing about. This is the real Cajun thing.

Show: Troubadour Blue at 8:00 PM

After: Stay in The Gulch for one more only if the room still has momentum.
