The Read
He won a national television competition in 2012 and “Home” became inescapable — a song so thoroughly used in montages that it stopped sounding like anything a person wrote. What gets lost is that he is a capable guitar player with a rasp and a genuine feel for the jam-adjacent end of folk rock. In a small room, that side has space to show up. Exit/In is a low-ceilinged rock club with a long memory and a floor that holds a few hundred. Nothing about it flatters an artist coasting on a hit. Expect a band-forward set, some stretching out, and a crowd split between people who came for the one song and people who followed what came after.
