Wild Pink write the kind of songs that sound wide open on first pass and turn out to be full of small, strange details — reverb-soaked guitars, half-spoken vocals, choruses that arrive sideways. It is indie rock with the emotional posture of a road trip and the patience of a slowcore record. Live, the quiet parts do most of the damage. The End is a narrow, dark shoebox on Elliston Place with a long history of hosting bands right before they need a bigger room. Eighteen-plus, Monday night, low ceiling, close quarters. The best possible circumstances for a band that rewards standing still and paying attention.
