Trivium built their reputation on technical thrash played with metalcore’s sense of hook — Matt Heafy switching between clean singing and a scream inside the same phrase, guitar harmonies arranged like they were written on paper. In Flames come from Gothenburg and effectively invented the melodic death-metal template that half of Trivium’s peers grew up copying. Putting them together is a lineage show whether or not anyone bills it that way. The Pinnacle is a large room and this package will fill it, largely with people who have been waiting for both bands to align schedules. A 6:35 start means openers and a long night. Expect twin-guitar leads, a floor that opens up on cue, and considerably more precision than the volume suggests.
