The Read
The Time Jumpers remain the most casual display of high-level musicianship in the city: session veterans playing western swing on a Monday because they would rather be doing this than not. Solos get handed around the stage with a nod. Nothing is announced. The band's internal shorthand is half the entertainment. Third & Lindsley seats people at tables, which suits music that came out of dance halls and never lost the pulse. The December version tends to pick up a few seasonal numbers, played with the same shrugging expertise as everything else. If you have out-of-town guests who think Nashville is only Broadway, this is the corrective.
