The Read
The Time Jumpers started as studio musicians blowing off steam after hours and turned into an institution without ever changing the premise: twin fiddles, western swing, a rotating cast of A-list players, and arrangements traded around the stage in real time. Vince Gill has been a regular for years. The pleasure is watching people this good stay loose. Third & Lindsley gives it a dinner-and-a-table frame that suits the music, which came out of dance halls and still has that pulse. Eight o'clock on a Monday, which tells you the audience is here on purpose. If you want to understand what Nashville musicianship actually sounds like when nobody is producing it, this is the shortest route.
