Scott Bradlees Postmodern Jukebox - The Future Is Vintage World Tour

The Read
Postmodern Jukebox started as an internet conceit — rearranging contemporary hits into period styles — and survived because the musicianship underneath the gimmick is real. The rotating cast has always been the draw: vocalists who can actually carry a 1940s ballad, and a band that plays the charts rather than winking at them. The risk is obvious. A whole evening of the same joke gets thin. The good version varies the eras hard, gives each singer a genuine feature, and lets a tap dancer or a trumpet solo break the pattern. Saturday night, dressed-up crowd, and a show that works equally well for people who came for the novelty and people who came for the arrangements.
