Holiday music gets thin fast when it is handled by two acoustic guitars and good intentions. A jazz orchestra solves that by brute arrangement: sections, voicings, a rhythm section with somewhere to go. The bari-sax framing in the title suggests the low end gets to lead for once, which is the funnier and better version of this idea. The Franklin Theatre gives it a seated, downtown-Franklin frame — early enough on a Tuesday to be a civilized night out. The risk with any December big-band show is that it slides into department-store ambience. The cure is players who take the charts seriously, and a room quiet enough to hear them do it.
