Poets and Prophets: Salute to Songwriter Pat McLaughlin

Pat McLaughlin is a songwriter’s songwriter. He landed a #1 in 1987 when Steve Wariner cut “Lynda,” and since then his songs have been recorded by everyone from Bonnie Raitt and Lee Ann Womack to Phoebe Bridgers, Marcus King, and Dan Auerbach. His closest partnership was with John Prine — the two wrote “I Remember Everything,” which won the Grammy for Best American Roots Song in 2021, the year after Prine died. Poets and Prophets is the museum’s in-depth interview series (Allison Moorer hosts), built around the stories behind the songs and threaded with live performance, film, and photos. A 2:30 afternoon program in the Ford Theater, included with admission. For people who want the craft talked through by someone who’s quietly shaped decades of it.
