Our pick
David Ian Trio
Monday, September 14, 2026 · 6:00 PM · Rudy's Jazz Room, The Gulch
The Read
The piano trio is jazz’s default setting for a reason. Three players can cover the entire harmonic and rhythmic map without crowding each other, and the format has no place to hide a weak link. A six o’clock start means this is an early set, played to a room that is still filling and eating, which usually makes for a more relaxed band. Rudy’s is the rare Nashville venue where jazz is the plan rather than the decoration. Come for the first set, get a table, order something, and let the trio work. You will be out in time to be home early on a Monday, which is either the point or a bonus depending on the week you are having.

Rudy's Jazz Room

The closest thing Nashville has to a dedicated jazz club — table seating, close listening, and a Gulch location that feels apart from the Gulch.

After: The Gulch has options if you want one last round; otherwise take the win.
