The Read
Daytime shows at a dive bar have their own weather. The light is still coming through the door, the room is half full, and whoever is playing is doing it for the pure fact of playing. Banjola is a local booking with a name that promises string instruments and not much pretense; you will not know the songs, and it will not matter. The Springwater has resisted every wave of renovation that has swept this city, and an afternoon there is the cheapest way to spend two hours inside old Nashville. Go early, stay as long as it holds, and you still have the entire Saturday night ahead of you. Bring cash.
